The Business Development Liaison is responsible for planning and implementing marketing and sales activities for home health and hospice by developing and maintaining referral sources, service coordination, promoting and communicating the image and philosophy of the organization, sales support to programs, and referral of patients to appropriate and desired services.

Essential Activities and Tasks  

Business Development - 80%

  • Develops and maintains contact with key, targeted referral sources toward the generation of new referrals. Develops new referral sources and follows up with discharged patients to determine their need to re-establish services. Provides referral sources with current information on services.

  • Responsible for achievement of individual sales/volume goals as developed and prioritized by Director of Business Development. Develops and coordinates referrals leading to these programs. Coordinates and facilitates patient referral and intake, conducts, as needed, a pre-admission review of patients and obtains, as appropriate, written orders from physicians and Face to Face information as defined on form.

  • Develops the annual marketing plan with the Director of Business Development and participates in ongoing planning and marketing evaluation activities. Included are ongoing competitive analysis, marketing needs assessments, and tracking of referrals.  Identifies opportunities for formal or contractual relationships with physicians and organizations.

  • Participates in activities and events that promote the image of the organization.

  • Participates in department and program planning meetings. Reports information to program staff on marketing issues and facilitates coordination of marketing activities.

  • Attends corporate and local training, as needed on sales and marketing principles methods.

  • Develops and maintains professional and positive relationships with community leaders, staff, all referral sources and families and patients needing hospice, home health or other community services.

Quality and Compliance Management - 15%

  • Maintains current knowledge of funding and government regulations.

  • Utilizes technology (netbooks, CRM, etc.) to effectively plan, maintain, and document marketing related activities.

Customer Service - 5%

  • Appropriately identifies needs of community adults. Coordinates education and program services to meet identified needs.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; or

  • Current unencumbered license in the state of Ohio to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required.

Experience

  • Two years sales/marketing experience required.

  • In absence of a degree or license, five years sales/marketing experience in home health or hospice required.

  • One year experience in a home health and/or hospice transition preferred.

  • Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and the internet required.

  • Proficiency with a contact management database required.

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Must be insurable under professional liability and crime coverage policies as specified by insurance carrier underwriting standards.

Working Conditions and Special Requirements

  • Sitting - Up to 8 hours/day

  • Walking - Up to 2 hours/day

  • Lifting, transferring, pushing or pulling equipment/supplies - Up to 25 pounds

  • Driving - Up to 6 hours/day
