Hospitality Aide

The Hospitality Aide provides homemaking and/or companion services to residents and patients with the highest level of quality care in accordance with company standards and federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.

Essential Activities and Tasks

Care Management and Service Delivery - 80%

  • Executes daily activities for residents as scheduled.

  • Transports residents in wheelchairs to and from various destinations.

  • Cleans resident’s fingernails (no clipping).

  • Provides residents with ice water and nutritional supplements.

  • Passes linens, towels and washcloths as needed to residents

  • Serves and assists with meals by passing trays, setting and clearing tables.

  • Knows location of assigned residents within the community at all times.

  • Listens and responds to the needs of residents and staff members.

  • Carries out daily activities that provide companionship and socialization for the resident.

  • Monitors resident’s general medical condition and reports changes to Charge Nurse.

  • Provide support to the nursing team by answering call lights and assisting when applicable.

Administration and Reporting - 15%

  • Maintains current and accurate records through use of computers and/or other documentation in accordance with company standards and federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.

  • Informs Charge Nurse of supply and equipment needs.

  • Willingly and consistently shares opinions and observations of departmental operations with Charge Nurse.

  • Attends all-employee and departmental meetings and in-service training as scheduled or as directed.

Operations Management - 5%

  • Completes routine light housekeeping tasks for the unit, such as emptying wastebaskets, cleaning tables after meals, etc. and reports any hazardous conditions to the Charge Nurse.

  • Follows established infection control and standard precaution policies, fire and safety policies, and practices good body mechanics.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • Experience in a long-term care or other related healthcare setting preferred.

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Working Conditions and Special Requirements

  • Sitting - Up to 8 hours/day

  • Standing - Up to 8 hours/day

  • Walking - Up to 8 hours/day

  • Lifting, transferring, pushing and/or pulling residents/patients and/or equipment/supplies - Up to 50 pounds

  • Work weekends, evenings, and holidays - Required as scheduled

  • Subject to residents/clients/patients with various disease processes - Occasional

  • May be exposed to infectious waste, disease, conditions, etc. including exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses - Work day
