The Senior Clinical Systems Analyst serves as the lead implementation and support person for all clinical applications and facilitates the configuration, implementation, and training of the electronic medical record and other clinical computer software within Ohio Living. The Senior Clinical Systems Analyst is a subject matter expert assisting in the resolution of issues affecting all electronic clinical systems and works closely with the IS department ensuring federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations are followed within the IS environment, including HIPAA, Medicare regulations, and all related audits.
Essential Activities and Tasks
Operations Management - 40%
Supports the use of all Ohio Living electronic medical record and other clinical applications, including day-to-day complex operational issues.
Analyzes clinical processes and recommends system solutions to the clinical operations team. Collaborates with the IS department regarding hardware needs for all clinical staff.
Collaborates with Development and IS regarding clinical hardware needs for all new construction and renovations.
Investigates, troubleshoots, and seeks resolution for all clinical applications issues.
Collaborates with the IS staff and project leads on the implementation of new clinical applications and enhancements in existing clinical/ applications.
Customizes and creates system changes based on operational and regulatory changes.
Analyzes and develops necessary design work, including testing and documentation for all clinical applications.
Identifies and communicates table maintenance changes in applications and presents changes at the IS change control meetings for approval.
Performs table maintenance as needed in all clinical applications.
Facilitates application and process training to corporate, community, home health, hospice and palliative medicine locations.
Serves as a contact with vendors for all clinical applications. Serves as a liaison between the IS department and all clinical operations
Collaborates with the IS department regarding issues/needs of clinical operations.
Communicates user access needs and any security issues discovered to IS leadership.
Stays current with technology through seminars, educational opportunities, trade magazines, etc.
Serves as the clinical operations expert.
Project Management - 25%
Leads projects for new clinical applications, upgrades, or enhancements ensuring projects meet deadlines and budgets with exceptional quality.
Participates as a team member on projects affecting hardware/networking needs for all clinical staff and applications.
Communicates new functionality and upgrades to the appropriate end users through webinars and other forms of training.
Participates in the IS Master Project Development Plan by identifying new projects and enhancements for all clinical/ systems.
Process and Quality Improvement - 20%
Analyzes clinical processes, recommends system solutions, and communicates the new processes and applications.
Analyzes clinical software needs for new builds and renovations.
Analyzes upcoming upgrades and customizes them for the benefit of end users.
Confers with clinical staff to determine specific IS software and data needs and communicates those needs to IS leadership and vendors.
Assists with the development of clinical application policies and procedures.
Develops applications training for existing and new processes and applications.
Stays current with technology through seminars, educational opportunities, trade magazines, etc.
Care Management and Service Delivery - 15%
Provides assistance to utilizing our systems as it relates to clinical systems.
Facilitates the rollout of clinical system enhancements on an ongoing basis.
Helps develop, coordinate, or facilitate technology communication and change management plans and processes to communicate updates, maintenance schedules, risks, or other key updates to staff and vendors.
Listens and responds courteously and promptly to the needs of business partners and end users.
Maintains productive relationships with technical vendors.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Nursing or Associate degree from an accredited college, university or vocational school required.
Current unencumbered license for the state of Ohio to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required.
Experience
Five years experience in clinical systems operations analysis, planning, budgeting, and documentation required.
Experience developing and delivering computer application training.
Experience in direct end user interactions and support for diverse customer groups required.
Experience in project management required.
Experience in a long-term care, home health, hospice, or hospital setting preferred.
Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and the internet required.
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR), preferably MatrixCare, PointClickCare or Homecare Homebase, required.
Other Requirements
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Must be insurable under professional liability and crime coverage policies as specified by insurance carrier underwriting standards.
